I’m delighted to be on Beauty Debutante once again! It’s Amy at Cafe Makeup, reviewing some makeup removers sent to me for consideration from Physician’s Formula Organic Wear line. These products 100% Cruelty Free, and free of harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives and parabens. At the same time, the line contains moisturizers and is very gentle.
First up, I tried the Organic Wear Eye Organic Makeup Remover Pads ($6 ish)(60 pads). These arrived in a small metal can with a screw top that keeps the pads moist.
We found that these pads did not cause any irritation and did seem to have a slight moisturizing effect. We were most concerned about how the pads worked on mascara–we both use non-waterproof mascara but do want to remove it completely at the end of the day. We found that the pads were a bit on the gentle side, it took me about 3 pads to get my Chanel mascara and Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner completely off. Liz used about 5-6 pads to get her Physician’s Formula Organic Wear mascara and Prestige Total Intensity liner off. This may be testament to the lasting power of these products, or simply underscores that these remover pads are on the gentle side.
We were both extremely pleased with the Physicians Formula Organic Wear Natural Origin Makeup Towelettes (25 in a soft pack) ($4-6). These had a pleasant scent and seemed to take almost everything off pretty quickly. Like the eye makeup remover pads, these had a soft moisturizing quality. They did not have the “strip your skin clean” kind of feeling, which is the hallmark of gentle skincare. Liz is comfortable using these as her sole cleansing routine.
As a comparison, I slightly prefer Olay’s makeup remover wipes in terms of scraping that last bit of sunscreen off. I should note that my skin does not require sensitive or gentle treatment–if yours does, I do recommend the Physician’s Formula Organic Wear as it is quite gentle.
