Working in a hospital means that I have to wear gloves for most of my work day. My hands can end up getting pretty gross if I don’t make sure to pay special attention to them. I was hoping when I got a sample of Diptyque’s Velvet Hand Lotion that it would be my new go to lotion. After using it for the first time I realized it wouldn’t be useful at work. It is however, the perfect lotion for the rest of the time.
Diptyque’s Velvet Hand Lotion contains immortelle flower, water, organic sesame seed oil, chamomile flower water, acacia honey, licorice extract, and sweet almond milk. I’m guessing that the sesame seed oil is the main moisturizing ingredient in the lotion, and it works incredibly well. When I applied the lotion, it took less than a minute for the lotion to sink in. There was absolutely no greasy feeling at all – something which I despise in hand lotions. I could immediately tell that my hands were smoother. After repeated use, I can say that my hands have probably never looked this good – sometimes I have an ashy tone to my hands when they get dry. I’m pretty sure that ashy color is now gone for good thanks to this lotion. It’s even proving to be a great lotion to travel with – sitting on a plane for 8 hours hasn’t taken its usual toll on my hands. And as an added bonus, the scent is heavenly.
The scent of Diptyque’s Velvet Hand Lotion is based on the immortelle flower, which upon first sniff, smells like honey and hay with a musky undertone and a hit of tobacco. After I stepped off my plane I sniffed my hands, and the musky scent was still there.
