Sinful Colors Nailpolish: Rich in Heart, Out of this World, and more!

by Hillary on August 12, 2010

Hey there everyone, hope you are bearing this brutal heat this summer is giving us.This is Hillary from Byhillary again. This time I get to review my favorite type of product! POLISH! The kind people behind Sinful Colors gave me the chance to test out and review 5 of their polishes. I had a hard time picking which one to start with as they sent a really great selection of colors.

sneak peek to only my flickr friends of what I am currently reviewing.

From Left to Right: Rich in Heart, Out of this World, Mama San, Flirting Nails, Mercury Rising

Rich in Heart

It appears to be a deep dark red in the bottle but once applied you can tell it has a black base to it. I found this color to be overly thick, clumpy and a little hard to get it to apply evenly. This is two coats and  it leveled out some once it was drying but I find colors as dark as this hard to make look nice. It did last a few days without major chipping. This photo was actually taken after 2 days.

Out of this World

Stacy nails

My friend Stacy actually tested this one out for me. It is so beautiful with her red head coloring. What she had to say about it.

“It applied nicely  – not lumpy or sticky. It’s a little more shimmery than I was expecting from just looking at the bottle but the shimmer is growing on me.  It dried quickly so it was easy to apply a second coat.  I only did two coats since I tend to like polish that is a little sheer looking but I probably would try three coats next time to see if I could get a little more of the blue color to show.  With the two coats the blue is very faint but still pretty.
What’s the price 1.99?  I’d buy it and I usually only buy one bottle of polish a year – if that!”
I personally will be buying 2 more bottles of this. One for me and one for my gram! It is such a beautiful silvery blue and will look so beautiful with her silver hair. (She has the most killer nails and keeps them polished at all times! She is 81)
Mama San

I won’t even hesitate in saying this is quite possibly one of the most beautiful colors I have ever used and I have used a lot of polish.Photos don’t even do the color justice. It is a mauve color with multi-dimensional shimmer. It applied smoothly and very evenly and have a nice opaque coverage at two coats. I see this being a regular color for me. It gives a nice polished and sophisticated look while still packing a little fun with the shimmer. It also wore down on the tips before it chipped.
Flirting Nails

This is easily my second favorite polish. It is a deep muted golden color. It has shimmer but it isn’t “glittery”. It applies evenly and have a nice opaque covering at two coats. It would look just as nice with one coat, two just intensifies the color. I think it look very well with my coloring but I can see this being beautiful on someone with darker skin. It is also a very unexpected color you don’t see many well done gold polishes on the market. So many look cheap.
Mercury Rising

This color really surprised me.In the bottle I could see it was very pretty shiny brown color. I didn’t realize it was going to look as good as it does. The color is a deep brown with a bit of red in it. It looks like beautiful shiny auburn hair. This color was very opaque and I almost could of gotten away with 1 coat but I did two because it was on my toes. This one unlike Rich in Heart applied much more smoothly and without clumps. This is another color I can see me using a lot. It is sophisticated and fun.

I was very impressed with these polishes. I have to say I went into it with some preconceived notions about “inexpensive” polish being inferior in quality. In the past I have had a lot of problems with “cheap” polish staining my nails and being very messy to remove.  That was certainly not the case with these. They removed cleanly and with minimal effort. I will absolutely be using these again but I will purchase more from them. I think all the women in my life need a bottle of Mama San. Sinful Colors can be found at Walgreens and retails for $1.99. I think it is a great price for a really great product.
