GoClear 3-Step Acne and Blemish Regimen

by Hillary on August 5, 2010

Hey everyone! This is Hillary again from Byhillary and thank you for stopping by Beauty Debutante. I was sent the GoClear system to review. I am the perfect candidate for acne care systems because despite being in my 30′s, I still get acne. I find things that work for awhile then either I get tired of using it or it starts drying me out. Then came GoClear:

GoClear is the “first acne dedicated skincare line specifically designed for everyone.”

“The GoClear line through it’s its innovative formulation also helps address the hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration that can persist long after the blemish is gone. The concept behind the company’s ClearCulture Skincare design is that acne care products can and should be maximally effective, yet friendly to everyone regardless of age, skin type, or ethnicity, and inspiration that Dr. Gottlieb credits to his own mixed-ethnicity children.”

“GoClear accomplishes this by thoughtfully combining medical and high-grade active botanical ingredients in products that are all oil-free and allergy tested. They also do not contain alcohol, propylene glycol, PABA, lanolin, artificial dye or fragrance, ingredients that can be irritating especially to sensitive and darker pigmented skin, and that may lead to or prolong the dark spots that can linger after a a blemish has been treated. GoClear does not formulate with benzoyl peroxide. GoClear believes that everyone should limit their exposure to irritating skin care ingredients”

I have very fair skin and I definitely get darker skin discolorations after the acne has cleared so I was intrigued.

Step 1.You start off washing in the morning and evening with the Clarifying Cleanser AM/PM. First impressions were that it had a very tiny exfoliating feel and a light non-chemical smell. It left my face feeling clean and not stripped like many acne washes do.

Step 2 is the Intensive Acne Treatment which is designed to be an all over treatment that unplugs pores and helps prevent new acne from forming. After 10 days of use I can say not only is my skin clearer, I have much fewer blackheads! You only need a little to cover most your face and my one small complaint is that it comes out of the tube much too fast and you end up wasting some. I solved the problem by holding it upside down and gently squeezing a little while letting gravity keep the rest in the tube.

Step 3 is the Moisturizing sunscreen that I actually apply day and night. It is designed to be quick absorbing, help control oil and leave skin with a matte finish. I say yes to all three claims. It absorbs so quickly I can apply makeup over it almost immediately and not worry about the common “makeup slide” you experience when you put makeup over a face cream without letting it “dry”  It also didn’t leave me shiny and prevented that shine from creeping in for hours.

As I mentioned before I have been using it for almost two weeks. In that time I have no had any dry, peeling skin which almost every single other 3 step system on the market has given me. I don’t have that red peeling skin around my nose that products with Benzoyl Peroxide always causes on me. I went out on a date with my husband this weekend and while applying makeup I realized something, I didn’t need foundation! None. A little concealer under the eyes (but that is a different story) but nothing was needed to “even out” my skin tone! I wanted to show off my skin.

The GoClear 3-Step Acne and Blemish Regimen ($50 Value) 3-Step Acne and Blemish Regimen sells for $40 at Sephora or Amazon and I would recommend it for anyone who has acne but is scared of acne systems because they have always left then with dry, red itchy skin. This gentle system would be perfect for them.

Thank you Hillary! I’ve been wondering about this system – stress has made my normally mild adult acne flare up something terrible and my skin has gotten so very sensitive that I can’t use my normal products. I’m going to try this ASAP!

Thank you for the great review. I’ve seen this at Sephora and online but to be perfectly honest, $40 is more than I wanted to spend on a gamble – I’ve tried so many unsuccessful systems I had given up. Well, your review pushed me over the edge, I’m going to grab this after work tomorrow.
Your skin looks fabulous, I hope to experience the same…
